I've got a son starting at a UC school in 6 months. It's become painfully obvious to me I will never have the money to restore my tractors for the Tulare show. Time for them to move on to new owners.

1957 Oliver DDH, Hercules 6, Carco 10 ton winch, Issacson blade - batteries dead, engine free, has been kept covered. Last started a year ago, injection pump needs rebuild, will run but low power. Undercarriage poor/fair. Was family logging dozer from Washington state per prior owner. SN tag gone. Steering bands new, also have spare new set.



Pair of Cat 20 carriages, one is SN L1215 (dozer frame), the other has no SN tag on back. Both rollers.




Athey Forgtrak, complete with extendable boom and tank straps shown. Rolls beautifully.



1943 Cat D42T, 2730 hrs on meter, angle blade and cable control unit. Was used on Alcan Highway per prior owner. Cat yellow / Army green / and state transportation orange on tractor. Both engines run, main clutch out / needs rebuild, steering clutches now stuck, will roll. I have a new muffler, pipe, and cap for the exhaust.

For those of you interested in the Athey carriage give me a few days to get some better pictures, verify dimensions, and SN#. Hopefully I'll get some sun between the much needed rain.

The safety wire is still intact on the axle hub bolts.

Model 7, SN 4561

Track width - 16.5", height - 34.5", length across oval - 75.5"
Hoop ID - 30.5", length from outside of hoop to outside of hoop - 80"
Chassis width - 83", Chassis length (boom full retracted) - 186", Boom extension can be another 108" (full) or 84"
Weight is 3k to 3.5k lbs. (I have no weigh to tell accurately)

OK, maybe I'm not the brightest bulb on the Christmas Tree, maybe the only person that does not know what it is for, but this midwest swamp rat would sure like to know what the Athey was built to do. I like it and must have a use for it.

i would love to have it in NC, would make a nice off road fuel hauler.

Old-iron-habit - Maybe this description from the Dotted Line catalogue of July 1929 will help you out.
This is the early design Athey Truss Wheel, the track design changed substantially by 1942, but the principle of using the Athey Truss Wheel to transport goods over soft ground remained.
In 1929 there were Athey Truss Wheel attachments designed to replace ordinary wheels on many trailers, logging wheelers and other trailers.
You could buy Athey Truss-equipped log trailers, bummers, tractor wagons, stake platform wagons, cane trailers, combination wagons, combination log trailers and Athey-equipped rear dump trailers as well.
Of course, the military saw large advantages for military application for the Athey Truss undercarriage, and they were utilised in numerous military applications as well.

Per the prior owner:

This Athey carriage was "used for munitions / fuel handling on airstrips during WWII".

I have not been able to verify this in any literature or WWII photos so far. The application seems reasonable given the long adjustable boom for maneuvering under a plane and across rough cut airfields.

I found some collaborating info. Athey Products Corp. inventor Joseph Kuchar's 1942 patent describes using his track design on an airstrip.
