can you explain the added gizmo's on the pads!--appears to be small round rods staggered added to each pad on each side but the left side seems to have something added to the grouser? would this be for ice on a steep side slope???

They were on it when I bought it in New Hampshire. I was told it was used by Loggers..aside from that I dont know. They never gave me any problems so I left them on.
