Hi Folks
This may be getting a bit pedantic but does anyone know what sort of wire was origionally on the Cat 15 Spark Plugs ? I have found a guy who does the old Cotton Covered Wire in Various colours and as I have a choice I thought I may as well get the origional colour. Was it in fact Cotton Covered wire used or neoprene ? I will attach a link to his website....lots of goodies on there...mag parts....spark plugs....oil caps....etc

http://www.magnetoparts.com/wire.htm

Cheers

Dave

I get my wire from Brillmans, and other small items for my old Cats, just watch their shipping charges though, because they like to use Fed Ex or UPS even though both never service rural Australia and you get a shipping charge of $64 for $25 worth of wire and spark plugs yet it is delivered by Australia Post! Ask them to ship via U.S. Postal Service, you will save a lot of money that way even though it doesn't have barcode tracking, big deal, USPS have yet to lose one of my boxes from the USA.
regards

I know this is a old post but I am still to know the correct colour for these leads. My old ones are faded red colour with the brass or copper ends on them. All I want to know is,can I buy the lead and solder onto the brass ends? I don't want to buy black leads off brillmans with the metal ends on.
I am wanting to polish my ends up and if I can solder them on.
Does the wire just have one copper strand down the center?
Thanks for the help stew

I bought the black wire Kits with the cotton cover for several of my tractors. the fit seems
generic, meaning all wires were too long. The spark plug end is crimped on with a special tool
that I don't have. I custom fit them by shortening the magneto end.

I would stay with the black wires on a yellow or grey caterpillar tractor.

I think a yellow wire would look nice on a black BEST or a green HOLT tractor

I'm guessing none of us know Stew and Dave - no color photos from 19-ought-something

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
