The NGK plugs are also plated.....don't think it makes any difference, may even curb the tendency to rust.

I use the Autolite 3077 plugs in my TEN. They are a little hotter and stay cleaner during shorter runs. I agree with Old Magnet, the plated base will not corrode as fast but really shouldn't make a difference on how the plug fires.

You didn't say what you were using the 3076/3077 plugs in? They are a 7/8" x 18 tpi plug...not for the pancake pony motors. They are a non-resister type plug.
What's a "Pancake" pony motor? I only know of the Horizontal cylinder and the Vertical cylinder ponys.👋
