The attached picture are the teeth I want to replace with longer ones. Can they be replaced? My Cat has a 4N1 bucket on it. If they can be replaced, How do I get the old ones off?

Should be a removable pin in the side of the removable tooth tip.....can't quite make it out in your pictures.

After scraping around with my knife, I found a pin in there.

It's hard to tell by the pictures, but the wear on the exiting teeth were worn down way too much. If the underside of the teeth wore through and down to the shank, it's not good. When you take the teeth off, check the shanks for wear. If the shanks are wore down, the new teeth will not fit correct and will more than likely break the keeper pins and keep falling off. From what little I could see from the two pictures, I would remove the cutting edge, reweld a new one on, weld on new shanks, then new teeth.-glen

That cutting edge is worn out and the teeth are probably worn through the bottom, if you can get new teeth to stay on the old adapters, the extra leverage will probably break the cutting edge in any heavy work, so don't put long teeth on them.

I got one of the old teeth out this morning. The cutting edge is worn, but there is still lots of meat left on the bottom side of the bucket to hold new teeth. I took more pictures of it. Where do you buy teeth and pins like this?IMG_0790[1].jpgIMG_0792[1].jpgIMG_0793[1].jpg

Wow,
Looks like the shank is made onto the tooth???? Never seen that before. I bet they aren't gonna be cheap even if you find them. Teeth for my 955 are over $100 each because they pin through the top. I think I am gonna cut my shanks off and go to a more modern style tooth. You may also want to check into this idea. It may save you money and headaches in the future.

I think you will find they are 'Esco' teeth, more commonly used on large Excavators and draglines etc, most ground enagaing tool specialists should know what they are.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
