Chapter 4 with guests from Chapter 3 and Chapter 7, including some National Board Members, along with representatives from FABCO the local CAT dealer took a tour of the Cat Global Mining Plant in South Milwaukee today along with going through the newly remodeled Bucryus Museum. Some photos will be posted as they come in. If you have a chance to go through this plant you will see some of the largest earth moving machines or parts of made. Chapter 4 would like to thank Lee Sorbel for getting this all set up.

It was a great time. The museum alone is worth it. Thanks again to everyone involved, especially Lee. These are some of the pics I have. The first is an amazing model in the museum. Second one is hanging just inside the door of the museum. Next 2 are group photos.

I agree with Rick, new friends in Chapter 4, Chapter 3, and Bucyrus Erie/Cat and a chance to catch-up with old friends. It was an enjoyable day. Thirty-five people attended.

Thanks Kirk for posting the pics. I have some from the museum that I'll put up a little later.

Also thanks to Terry Welch and Betty Langeland for all the phone calls and organizing, and thanks to Mary Jo Brown for contacting Chapter 3 people. It's a shame that after all her work Mary Jo and Marvin couldn't make the trip.

Regards,
Lee

Since we could not take any photos inside the plant. I will look and see if I can find John Furgason's, when we went through the plant a few years ago with another group. At that time you could take photos. They have done many things to the museum, since I was there last. They did a first rate job. This time there was no buckets to see. It is kinda rare to be there when they are building them.

I concur with the other sentiments expressed. Thanks to Lee, Betty and Terry for organizing the tour. What was particularly fun was that it was a joint-chapter event. It would be fun to see other chapters enjoy the camaraderie that 3,4 and 7 did today. It was great to see folks that we ordinarily only get to visit with during national shows. Thank you!

I forgot to add that Chapter 4 President Erik Welch and Vice-President Jeff Carls gave some members of Chapter 4 a tour of their work Professional Power Products a company the repackages Gensets. Mostly Cat units. They have three Cat MAK units there now. Some of Chapter 3's members were to come also but had to cancel. This tour was held the night before the tour of the Cat Global Mining plant.

Here are a few pictures taken in the museum during the tour on 11-11-11. The museum has three floors. Pictures are allowed on floor 1 and 2. The third floor contains archived prints and documents in a controlled environment, so light from a camera flash is not allowed.

The first two are Corporate logos and the year each was introduced. The third one is a mock-up, I don't remember the scale. The last three are models of product made by B/E over the years. Fifth from the left is Big Muskie in 1/87th scale.

Thirty Five club members and their guests toured the museum and manufacturing facility.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
