Hi to all!
My passion for the Caterpillar 951 loader never ends! I hope not to bother you!!
I saw that there are versions of LGP, you tell me something of lgp 951?
What are the mechanical differences with the normal 951?
How does the track loader was widened?
Do you have some pictures, brochures or technical data?
In what year were produced?
There were special serial numbers?

Thanks

The LGP or widetrack 951C's are rather uncommon, I've only seen a handfull for sale over the past couple of years.

The spacers between the frame and track rails are longer to allow for the wider pads. I don't know of any other major differences. I have seen a couple that had matching wider buckets.

Here's some pictures of the ones I've seen for sale 2010/2011. One of these (Patty) is a 941, same setup.

What model 951 is a LGP???
Neither my model identification info or undercarriage manual indicates a 951 LGP model number.
A 941 and 953 has the LGP version but I can't find anything on a 951 model.

It may be that the 951 were set up by the dealers with the 941 parts ?
It seems strange that you do not have data on lgp 951 on the pictures posted above there are 951 and also the following link:

http://www.europe-machinery.com/used/Crawler-loader/1849441/caterpillar-951-lgp.html

what do you think?

Old Magnet I've sent you a private message, maybe you have not seen, you can just answer me.

My reference material includes the european models but I do not show a series number for a LGP model 951. Can't always believe a picture....more than likely they are a custom set up. Maybe someone else can come up with the series number.

Hi Team,
here are scans from my Performance Handbook, Edition 11, for machines of the day.

As OM says I cannot find a Serial No specifically for 951C LGP machines. I can only guess that they had the same S/No as a Standard machine.

Interestingly in scan "Track Loader Performonce Data" there is no change to the machine Operating Weight for the LGP version, BUT, it is listed at the bottom of scan "Track Loader Specifications" in the box for LGP machine specifications that are different for the LGP verses Std. machines.

Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Thanks edb,
Appears as you say, no designated series...odd when the model above and below has a designated number.

Did find in the undercarriage manual...in the fine print that the track pitch changes from 6.75 in. to 6.91 in. and this opens up the D5-561 list of track shoes where the 22 in. double grouser shoes are listed.

Probably all spelled out in the applicable parts manual if you have one.

The 951C was 6.91" pitch anyway, the 951B was 6.75" pitch, I've heard of this LGP animal but have never seen one.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
