I need to replace the undercarriage on my D6D SA (pads, rails, sprockets, rollers and idlers). I can purchase undercarriage in excellent condition from a D6C. Is the undercarriage the same for both? If not, are any components of the D6C compatible with my tractor?

One thing that might be different is the bolt size on the bottom rollers. If I remember right D6c's had 5/8" bolts originally and D's were 3/4". Lots of D6c's were drilled out to 3/4 to either make it stronger or to repair bad holes (mine has been drilled)

Do D6d SA's have 7 roller track frames?...D6c's are 6 roller. I would guess most of the other parts would interchange, but others may be more certain about it.

I believe everything is the same except the bolt holes on the bottom roller mounts are larger for the D6D.

D6C and D6D is the same except bottom rollers depend on serial number.
Rails can be either 5/8 or 3/4 shoe bolting.

My D6D SA has 6 bottom rollers per side and SALT (sealed and lubricated tracks). Did the D6C have 6 bottom rollers and SALT rails also?

Is there a requirement to have a certain number of single flange rollers and double flange rollers, or do these dozers only use one kind? I never did understand why there are the two styles.
Thanks

There are a certain number of single and double flange rollers, always a single next to the sprocket, fit them the way they came off, if you are not sure, I have the roller patterns in my CTS book. the '3P' SALT and sealed track use the same individual link numbers.

I was told by an old hand that he ran all double flange except for the rear roller. Especially if you don't have rock guards. My "C" does not have rock guards, so I have 5 double flange and one single on each side. He claimed that it encouraged the track to stay under the frame and not head down hill on its own when on a slope. 😊 I think the Cat standard is 3 of each on each side in a front to rear, "double to single order"

The D6D(standard roller frame) has 6 bottom rollers with 3/4" bolts.The D6C(standard roller frame) also used 6 bottom rollers. D6C 76A/74A = 5/8" bolts. D6C 10K/99J = 3/4" bolts. All other undercarriage will interchange.
Both the D6C and D6D also had LGP and long roller frame versions which change track length.
