Hi Team,
just found a very pre-loved 99E Serv. Man. in the shed.
A scan of the engine oil pump description is included.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Hi Eddie B,
Good stuff:D :D .......got anything that shows the physical layout of the system on the 70/71D. Particularly the LH side showing the casting bulges that connect the bell housing to the D318 sump.

Is this the picture you are looking for? This is a late model 8t grader with an oil clutch.

Hi Josh,
I believe that's it although when recently viewing the 70D model I had the impression it was more built in but I only had a quick glimpse. Thanks for posting.

OM,
I am familiar with the big cast tube for clutch oil return on the 70D, our 38E,and the 8T14782-up, and 80C1-up, you mention, if I recall flywheel windage returned the oil in similar fashion to the Fordson tractor engine lube system, it is just under the Diesel oil dipstick and oil filler neck of the D318.
70D's are equivalent to our 38E here in OZ. 99E is the equiv. of our 21F.
Here CofA stuck with the 12E type mechanical control box until the release of the G series grader. They had the engine updates as they came thru, but the rest of the machine stayed pretty much the same. S/No's were 21F with the D333 and 17K with the 3306.
On these units the Engine/Trans. skid package, control box and some other parts came from USA. The chassis, cab, front axle, tandems, ROPS--when available, A frame type drawbar,&, blade were all built here. They stuck with the A frame type draw bar on the G series also. Sadly no graders are produced here by CofA any more.
Attached are the best view of the oil tube I could find, from a 8T-80C OMI. Also the bottom of the flywheel housing for the 99E where the scav. pump section of the eng. oil pump picks up return clutch oil. It is basically all internal on these later units. The pick up opening is item 10 in the 2nd pic. in #1 post.
OM, sorry I have put in more than you asked for but this is for future reference by others who come later.
Cheers,
EddieB.

Hi Eddie B,
Thanks again for the info, that does a super job of explaining the D318 & D333 systems and their transition. Now goes back to the original discussion of what manuals cover the D318 (grader) oil clutch service. Nothing in the latest 8T Servicemen's Reference Book, I have one of those???

The service information for the early oil clutch in the 8t and 80c etc. Is a seperate booklet called " service information for Caterpillar oil clutch and hydraulic servo mechanism for #12 motor grader" form #31756 , my copy is dated 10/55.

Hi Team,
Here are scans of 8T--40C oil clutch service data as per OMI. This should be similar for all D318 powered oil clutch machines ?.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
