Thursday, January 20, 2011, Orchard, Iowa, USA. Overcast, high was 10 degrees around noon and then lowered to 2 when I left. Windy, steady, probably 10 to 15 mph, fresh snow blowing across the roads. Although I was warm in insulated Carhartt bib overalls over clothing, down winter jacket from LL Bean, hat, gloves, my new digital camera protested the low temps. About 10 minutes outdoors is all it took to shut down (battery operated). Kept my car idling, heater on high, and snuggled inside it for about 10 minutes, camera got perky again, so I took more photos. Was at Jim’s from 11 a.m. to about 2 p.m. – 3 hours, and got my business taken care of fast. Leaving for home tomorrow (Friday) morning – 13 hour trip that I will probably take over 2 days. Can’t wait to get home to Denver where it is warmer.
