I used to work with a fellow that worked at Empire Cat in Arizona for a while. He said white coveralls were normal work attire due to the heat. My dark blues get pretty lousy by the end of the day, I'd hate to see what whites looked like after you get down putting a flywheel housing in a Terragator.

We have white coveralls and get hit with that question quite a bit. “Why do they give you guys white coveralls?" I tell them it is because our hearts are so pure!
I believe at some of the dealerships they wore white to differentiate the cat mechanic from the customer Mechanics. An old timer who worked for HO Penn told me that when the apprentices were in their program they were giving an award for the cleanest coveralls at the end of the day. I think you still had to do your work and not screw off to keep the coveralls clean to get the award!.
Years ago NC had blue coveralls with the NC flag on the back. They said when you were working in the sun it would bake right into your back!

Hey King, one thing I've always wondered about your posts.
Why do you misspell THANKS all of the time?
Is it your signature? LOL

3512B has the reason i went with White in the first place. Even tough i don't live in a particularly hot climate, the white is a lot cooler when it is hot out. The local Cat dealer here also uses the white coveralls. Don

KoO I thought all the time it was your motto or trade mark. Years ago up in an area where we used to service coal strippings equip. there was an old house along the way that they made a beer joint out of & there was a big sign out front that said :IF YOU CAN,T STOP IN SMILE AS YOU GO BY" so that was back in the late 50s so I use that one on the bottom of my E-mails unless I decide to delete it but it always comes up like yours on here.
