The Bauma Plant Show.

I have just returned home from the Bauma Plant show in Germany, this is with out any doubt the bigest show of this sort in the World, the Liebherr stand cost just to put up, not including the machinery on the stand, cost 22.5 million euros. One Liebherr crane 11350 had a hook that weighed in at 44,000 kg. This hook was cabled up to 52 falls (part lines) and could lift max 1350 metric tons. The hook block winch was loaded with 1,100 metres of cable (over 1 klm). There was an excavator on this stand that was sold to a company in Africa for 2.6 million euros, obviously it was a big old bird.
On the Nooteboom trailer stand I met an ozzie who's name is Craig Membrey from Melbourne. This man was wearing a traditional Australian outfit, dodgy trainers, shorts and a short sleeved shirt with an aray of food down the front. To finish the spectical off, he was sucking a lollypop, I straight away took to this man and we had some great banter. I asked him what trucks he runs he answered Kenworths and KW's. I think he was tring to take the p***.
It turns out that he has bought the first new Nooteboom trailer to hit Australia, it is a double extender on 5 axle lines. I have pulled the exact same trailer in England many times. it pulls out to about 30 metres in total length.
So this should be a change from pulling jinkers or Drake trailers, and should be a novel thing to see in Australia, a full power steered trailer built to the old stanard width of 2450mm.
