That's sick and to add insult to injury, they used a Cat to chew it up. I could have gone all day without seeing this.

That's just the wrongity wrongest thing I've seen in a good long while.
There will be many like me who will see these photos and think "I coulda used such and such a part from that machine". And as OM stated, it just didn't look in bad shape either.

It's a rather sickening sight and somewhat cannibalistic to see a Cat devouring another Cat. But yes, that seemed a rather straight and intact 9U until that yellow predator came into view.
I have to keep reminding myself that machines are just that - machines, and that it is the people operating them that (should) have the feelings!

This excavator was probably run by someone that was never taught the meaning of old iron and then sadly this is what happens. They most likely have no clue as to what that Cat is actually worth to someone like us. It is going to be a crying shame if our younger generation is not taught about the history of what our fathers and grandfathers used to build this country. I am teaching my 3 boys about preserving old iron of all kinds and what my grandad operated and taught me to operate. This is my first time posting and I see there are a lot real knowledgeable iron heads on here. I wished I had pics of the Cat's I had owned. Well at least I can still picture them in my head.

There's apparently quite a bunch of collectors around Klamath Falls. I came through there a couple weeks ago and chanced upon their logging museum which included a bunch of Cats, Holts and Bests as well as steam equipment, mill equipment, trucks, blacksmith shop equipment, quite a pile of stuff in various stages of restoration. I'm sorta surprised they let this one go by, but there arn't enough of us to save them all, unfortunately.
