CC I can,t recall ever seeing a D333 with pinned on thrust as all I remember of them the bearing & thrust were all one piece. I thought I had some info. on the D333 but can,t just locate it right now. We used to get cranks metal sprayed to built them back up to std.so you might check in your area to see if there is a shop that does it.We always had good luck having it done & never had one problem with any we had built up.I did find some specs on a 3306 & they use the T-T-T tightening for the rods & mains so no cotter pins are needed for them but don,t have it on the D333 engines.

Here is the result of modifications to the #7 main cap to allow the thrust washers to be used instead of the flange type bearing. I don't know if I like the end result as well as if the cut had not been quite so big on the diameter. The washers have some room to move around because of that, but are contained by the recess and the overall thrust dimension is within spec (0.012")

Yes, I think I would agree a tighter fit would be desirable. Was there any crush recommended with the washers?....otherwise looks pretty good and will probably work out fine.

In the end, I had to have some help
Just happen to have a great mechanic working here now and I wasn't getting it done, so with a very few pointers and some encouragement from me, a parts engine from Dan (Thanks Dan!) and some time in between more pressing matters,...........
IT RUNS! Very well in fact.
The grin says it all. Nothing like the satisfaction of running it after you bring it back from the dead.
It will be my turn at the controls soon.
I'm not sure how it will feel to have about 3 times the hp that the 212 has. Wow!
