Here are some pics of the thirty I am trying to free up and get running. It seems that #3 piston is seized (as it is the only one still holding PB blaster and WD 45 that I am spraying in). Any other ideas to free it up with out further teardown. When it was free I did get it to pop but never take off on run, so I hate to tear it down unless nessisary.

Looks like a good winter project don't give up maybe try some gibbs or kroil and maybe heat the jugg a little to make the penetrant work better. Thirties are nice tractors we have two and yours looks to have a cold wheather package on it could it have been a city or state tractor at one time? Jason👍

yes it has cold weather package. Also the belt pully in back. I went up to WI for this tractor because of the oddity of it. I keep adding PB to the Jugs. I have also but in some break fluid. Just keeping soaken and the waight of the concrete block on the engaged crank. Hopefully it will do the job.

I have never tried this...... but you could take the plug out on the stuck cylinder and put compressed air into it to force the penetrating fuild down around the piston? Maybe some other guys will have some better advice.

You can get the hose already made for this at a local auto parts store. I use one to fill the cylinders when changing valve springs on a race engine.

to use the compressed air method to get the penatrent past the rings your going to have to back the rockers on the # 3 cylinder first, I'd just loosen the shaft hold down bolts off and pull the rocker assembly up on 3 and 4. Leave all the plugs out of the rest of the cylinders and put the air to it.
After you do that take and pull the clutch cover on the top of the transmission housing and take a pry bar and pry it in the "OPPOSITE" direction of rotation.
It will probably turn loose.
If you get it loose before you go turnin on it be sure and take the handle end of a hammer and bump all the valve making sure they move up and down freely.

If you can't find one I made one from a sparkplug and a quick disconnect fitting, I broke out the porcelin and welded the fitting into the plug body, I made one for both 14mm & 18mm plugs😆
When I couldn't get my D2 loose I pulled the head and welded up a cradle to attach to the head bolts, I made the cradle just high enough to fit a small bottle jack in. I then machined up a 3.950 diameter aluminum slug to set on the top of the piston. I was able to put light pressure on the piston top with the pistons soaking in PB and she broke loose.

To get mine loose I soaked it in kroll, MMO, and some other stuff for 6 months but no luck. Ended up taking the head off scraping out between the ring lands and walls (full of crud), then refilling with MMO, etc and lighting on fire. Afterwards took a wood block and small sledge and knocked it a few times. Then was able to turn the engine back and forth by the fan blade. I estimate it had sat 20 years with that cylinder exposed to humidity through an open exhaust valve.

Are the valves closed ? If so weld grease zert into a old spirk plug fill cylinder with oil put in plug hook up grease pump or grease gun .You can include a pressure gaigue if you are worried . pump away down she goes 5000.00psi .Ido it to old hit miss engines all the time .Spike

I have heard this one too but I do not have one welded up yet. It is in the back of my mind.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
