Hey Guys: I am looking to repower my Allis Chalmers G with a small Caterpillar Diesel Engine.....do you guys know if a product brochure was produced by Cat for the small power unit engines. I am looking for something in the mid 20 - 30 hp range.

If my memory serves me surplus center used to have a few small Cat diesel. I would rather go with Cat made if possible than gray.

Any thoughts or comments are appreciated. Thanks Much!!

Hi R.Peck
I am afraid to say that you will NOT find a "CAT" engine to fit into your "Allis Chalmers" model "G" tractor. The smallest diesel engine that "CAT" built was the "D3400", or the "D311" both of which powered their then "D2" tractors. This would be far to gigantic to fit to a model "G" - totally inpracticable owing to the physical size and the high weight of those engines. Alone one of those engines would weigh much more than the complete model "G".

If you are talking about the Surplus center in Nebraska they some time have Perkins engines, and they may advertise them as Cat engines as Cat has bought the Perkins company in the last few years.Hope this helps, and you find something that works for you.Ray

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
