I picked up two new thermostats (regulators) for my D6-9U 17383 today almost $39.00 each. Opened the CAT box and there was the thermostat "5H957" on one side and "Made in China" on the other.

Bought a ring gear the other day for my D47U. CAT (CAT Classic not available). Made in India. The holes did not line up with the flywheel. They were off a few thousandths. I believe someone forgot a torch wrench is used during installation and that the gear expands accordingly. The holes should have been drilled closer to the center line of the gear so that they would line up with the holes in the flywheel after the gear expanded. If this happens again, I am going to buy aftermarket rather than pay an extra $200.00 for a CAT box.

That's pretty nervy of Cat to put that Chinese crap in their box and market it as American.
I guess the greed merchants just can't resist the buy it for a bag of rice and sell it targeted at top USA pricing.

The quality might go down but you know the Caterpillar price will not. Sad to see and hear this.

not only that - there is a good chance it was recycled in the former Oliver foundry from Charles City IA- watched the chinks dismantle & ship it home----Side note- I have a 1945 pop mechanics w/ art- business cycles predict future- it called the Korean war - but more interesting[sad/ disturbing] it predicted that starting in the 1980's China would START a 510 year period of world domination- yall think they are off to a start yet?????
