Hi Team,
testing to see if I have blundered my way through scanning and posting images. Book is water damaged so I hope image is good enough. Only taken most of today! OM & SJ the 1H6953 gauge is drawn in situ in the second image of the attached T/N.
Cheers
Eddie B.

The 8M530 is the tool I mentioned before that we used at the shop on the compact fuel systems you mentioned above.I didn,t have the part number here to post but you answered the tool number.

Hi edb,
Glad to see your working through the scanning/posting picture thing. Can be aggravating at first until ya get the hang of it.
Doesn't seem to be any shortage of info on the compact fuel systems, it's that early stuff, pintle type, flat-seat, and the transition to capsule type injection that has been the most challenging to get information on.
Thanks for your efforts to help get the information out.
Also have a question, or information that needs comment.
On the capsule injectors I see a breaking pressure range of 300 to 800 psi
and have seen info that says anything anywhere from 500 psi plus down to 300 psi was still good. What should it be???

OM and edb thanks for the good discussion on Fuel Injection.
I have two rack setting tools, one is marked on the wood box 3H1690 and the one in the cardboard box I can't find the part number. The settings appear to be very close to each other. It looks like the side of the one on the right is machined to make it a little easier to mount. Does anyone know the part number of the one on the right.
I have some books and could post some setting charts if anyone needs them.

Hi Dave,
I have the same combination of rack setting gages that you have only the contents are switched. Both marked 3H1690. I'd be curious to know what the cut out is for on the one. I just figured it must be early and late models.
On the "Diesel Fuel Injection Test Apparatus" manual I have a Form # 11238-3 dated 6-57 on page #58.
Didn't realize there were so many versions of the "Injection Pump Housings" manuals.
In your info is there anything on the regular vs counterbored capsule nozzles?
Let's wait and see what all edb has before we post charts, etc.
By any chance did you acquire the Diesel Fuel Injection Test Apparatus that D4 Harry had for sale awhile ago??
Edit:
Well I guess I answered one of my questions (by reading the directions for the 3H1690)
Apparently with the early gage it was necessary to remove the adjacent pump when working on engines with the larger pumps. The notch cured that problem.

OM
Thanks for the instructions for the 3H1690. Mine was missing in both boxes.
My original photo above showing the wooden box came with the 3H1690 tool showed under it. Neither one came from D4 Harry. The drills and the holder came with the one I received in the cardboard box.
I think you are right about the notch on the later tool making it easier mounting between adjacent larger pumps.
Only one Fuel Injection book addressed the settings on the "Counterbored Nozzles" that I could find. Form 7272D, printed 5-52, pages 48 and 49 indicates by (asterish) *Counterbored Nozzles. This book has far more rack setting charts (31 pages) then the other fuel injection books that I have.
I have one of those cut-away injector pumps showing the valving and the rack function. I will try to post it.

Dave,
I was talking about a complete test apparatus and tooling like in attached pictures not just the 3H1690. It was on ebay and went pretty reasonable as I recall. I just couldn't persuade myself to add another project:)
Thanks for the chart.....slowly recovering the history.
