Swishy I have 7 2tons some Holt some Cat they are lots of them around here and and for the short time they were made they probably had more changes made then any other Machine. 3 diff makers of the engine first few had porthole on side ,carb changed a couple times, air cleaner system changed, had a few diff colors, steering levers changed size and shape, couple diff seat styles. Hard to steer and jerky takeoff. It had few uniuqe things, the first had oiltanks that dripped oil on the trackpins and bushing that was a disaister and many were made with the tank left on but no drip mech. and they had wet steering clutches and brakes
The green machine is more 5ton

The tractor number is 75859. Could you please tell me if green was the original colour?

The picture you posted as Willie said is listed in one of the Dotted Lines as a "1917 Experimental". This tractor has been discussed with many of the "historians" concerning the accuracy of that designation. Some believe it was built in the 1919-20 time frame and others believe it predates the Holt Military 5 Ton. What seems to be clear is that it is the forefather to the Holt 5 Ton that was produced post WWII. When we were going through the tractor we referred to it as a 3 1/2 ton because that is about what it weighs.

The serial number is 11679 which is second in the production of about 7 different models that contributed to the design of the 5 Ton. This tractor was tested, broken and put away long ago and was found by Fred Heidrick Sr. I bought it from the family after Fred's death.

The reason it was not used much is that the draw bar was broken completely off as was the belt pulley. What good is a tractor that cannot pull an implement or power stationary machines such as threshers or pumps. Don Hunter fabricated a complete new draw bar and repaired the belt pulley so all is operational.

When the heads were removed it revealed machining marks in the bores--almost no wear! The sprockets and remainder of the u/c is essentially new; we did have to fabricate one track pad and section of rail as one was missing.

Sooooooooo, the rather long answer to your short answer is that the green tractor is not a 2 Ton.
