Need to find a good source for fuel filters for the D2 3J and CAT 212 9T Grader...
The Parts Catalogs for both the D2 and 212 show:
7B8262-Element Service Assembly (consists of 3 elements-disposable)
7B8037 Gasket
5B1581 Gasket
Both gaskets are part of Assembly 7B8262
A search on Machinery Trader shows Florin has some...
Local Auto Parts House no help...
I suppose that I will have to call Florin and Holt to check if parts are listed separately, pricing, and availibiltiy...
Thanks. Respy, CarlsCAT

I recently found this place selling a Baldwin filter for our appliaction. I ordered several and their service was excellent.

http://www.adiesel.com/store/itemdetail.php?stocknumber=F919-C

Baldwin filter F919-C at $8.93 each. FYI, this is the same old style filter used in the #44 Hydraulic control. I modified my #44 so I could use this filter instead of the new style CAT filter that costs $80.

Gaskets I typically make using my trusty ball peen hammer.

The fuel filters are a Wix #33164 or Napa #3164. Also a Baldwin #F919-C.
About $10.00 ea. on the former and I've heard $6.00 on the Baldwin.

You'll probably have to get the gaskets from Cat.

While the subject is up. What about the part number (CAT) and (NAPA/WIX) for the full flow oil filter that would be on a D-2 J series?

NAPA 1161 is the full flow oil filter.

This is a single filter, not a set, order as many as you need for your application.

I believe the Baldwin fuel filter number posted above may be a set of 3 filters with gaskets for the fuel filter housing cover, etc. Check before you order, but if they're under $10 each, I doubt that is a set, probably a single filter like the NAPA 3164.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

The last time I was in my local NAPA store I asked about the 3164 filter. They did not have any and availability was sketchy. I think they quoted the price at $10-11. I have been using their 1161 oil filters, they seem to stock them. They are $10-11. I wonder what Cat gets for them.

I am beginning to be real interested in these aftermarket guys, Florin in particular. Dana sold me some clutch cams for the D8 for $35 each. When I called to order them they listed at $105 each. They are Cat old stock. When I mentioned Dana's quote the gal said "I'll have Dana invoice the parts" I got them the next day, Great service.

My guess is that a lot of Cat dealers have disposed of a lot of their old parts and these guys like Florin have bought them up. If there are a lot of filters out there maybe we can negotiate a good price for them. I could use a lot of those fuel filters, the D8 uses 7 or 8 and I think the D4's use 4. I wonder if Baldwin is still making them.

I use Icon (see above post) exclusively. I believe they have a 50 dollar minimum. Also by placing a (4) after the part number you get a set and the price drops even more.

The filters and gaskets no longer come in a complete kit...
They are sold individually...

I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
