Bernie,
Thanks for the info on the tool...particularly the one item that had three photos of a tool made from a 1 3/4 inch 3/4 drive socket...Posted by Craneman...That's the one that really helped...
My son went to the Tractor Supply this afternoon and bought the socket...Only 12 point sockets were available...He used a Plasma Cutter to cut the socket in two pieces...He then welded a piece of 2 3/8 inch pipe about 5 inches long between the two pieces, and then notched the bottom of the socket...He used the 3/4 inch breakover bar with a 4 foot cheater pipe...AND REMOVED ALL FOUR INJECTORS...
Thanks for the help...We really appreciate all the info...

Hey-
That is one dandy job! Not only making the tool and it working to your satisfaction but taking the time to snap a few pics and share them.

What did the socket cost you?

The socket was $8.00 at Tractor Supply...We had two...just in case the first didn't work... returned the spare socket...
The 2 3/8" pipe was a piece of used oil well drill pipe that is commonly used in the territory for building fence posts and fences...

I had the same socket tool made and I have three of the four hold-down nuts undone, but #4 is refusing to budge. I've heated the nut carefully with a welding tip a couple of times and liberally applied Kroil but to no avail. I don't want to smudge the nut anymore than I have already otherwise I'll be looking at scrap. Any other tips I could try? By the way, the injector is loose under the nut, so I'm guessing that the nut is just really stuck in the threads of the precombustion chamber. If that nut gets mangled, can a new nut be fitted to the injector?
Cheers,
Neil

The nut can be replaced but you will have to remove the spray valve retainer nut assy.

Errr, looks like I might already be there.... while "persuading" the hold-down nut, I loosened up the injector body from the nozzle nut and now I have three pieces to the injector.. Oh well, I meant I could get a better socket on the hold-down nut and ended up turning the whole precombustion chamber and nut out. I'll put it in the vice tomorrow and heat the chamber up and turn out that danged nut. Hopefully the injector can be put back in working order.
I also noticed that the chamber seal is a copper gasket, so I'm thinking I can anneal it and reuse it - sound ok? I'm going to pull all the valves and give them the once over too then that head should be in great shape.

Cheers,
Neil

Go for new Precombustion chamber seals. The socket is great. You should make a few and sell them for a modest profit. As for the injector nuts. They are available for around $60.00
Let me offer you some help in putting those injectors in shape again. I rebuild them for $75.00 @, plus around $12.00 in seals and cork gaskets. I'll reseat the needle valve, lappin the needle seat surface , test, adjust to specs. Bill Walter 816 891 8654 See add in last issue of ACMOC Mag. under (Parts and Service)
