OM, Thankyou. We only use direct mounted buckets.
What you see in the pictures are the pins that are used to mount the bucket, we set up the brackets and bosses all in one go, the pins are left in place until the full welding operation has been completed, and fully cooled. What you are seeing is the pins that have dropped down onto the blocks after the locking bolts have been removed. Thats when we know alignment is spot on. The bucket bosses dont have bushes the pins are fixed, by 22 mil capsdrews that screw into the boss. our own design. The bushes are fitted into the dipper nose boss.

Hi Gordon ,With a welder as good as tommy,I would be building him a nice dry welding shed to get him out of that mud . Boilermaker mate of mine says good quality welding is all to do with knowing how to set the welder up.He reckons at smoko and lunch he would change all the setting on his welder,to bugger up all the snoopers who would try and find out what he was doing. ian.

Ian don't you start upsetting my men !! Lol
Yr not wrong about settings our Miller set is infinately variable, best welding plant i ever owned. A miller 310 panther with a Kubota 3 cyl. Tom services it pretty much on the dot too. When we go off to smoko we all go together, now i wonder if that was Toms idea ? The sticks we use are second to none but only EW 7016's We have a workshop,,,,it's in kit form down our other yard. Aja, we do use a workshop round at the farm.
Take care mate Gordon.

gordon,
are those welds done with stick or a wire feed? from the pics they look to
be wire feed, the spray arc style of MIG. if stick what type 7016 or 18 of
what brand. that is impressive if its stick, this from a fellow welder.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
