trying to decide to fix up or sell the High Output D8 2u I have. the oil pump idler gear in the wet clutch decided to let go last summer and broke some odds and ends in the clutch. Still moves, but cannot be used for work. should not be that expensiveto fix, but looks like pulling the clutch housing. Has anyone had a wet clutch houseing out of a 2U lately? might be easier to pull the motor and clutch as motor has a bad exaughst valve or push tube. Another problem is the LH steering clutch needs to be pulled, cleaned of rust, and put back in.

I would not sell it to scrap, but might be a couple of years before I can fix it right, too many other projects. I have the D8 14a to use with the trac-hoe, but a machine to leave on the home farm is handy.

sssssoooooo, kind of trying to find out if there is intrest in buying it as-is. located in eastern ND, 50 miles NW of Fargo. I have a price in mind, but probably a bit high. So will consider offers. could email some pics if in no big hurry.

Not having had it apart before, I am thinking it might be easier to pull the engine and clutch, put it in the corner of the shop and not have to stand on my head to fix a bunch of problems at once.

Hey Joe, I've pulled two - 2U engines lately 😄 . Unfortunate you have to pull it to work on the oil clutch. The engine isn't that hard to pull if you have a forklift or crane, it's heavy 6K. Just keep track of how the shims are stacked. That way when you go back together the U-joints will be lined up.

My crane or forklift would pic the whole engine up so I had to use both. Which ended up working really well because I could adjust the angle.

You still keeping an eye on my HO thread?

I think the trac-hoe would work, might have to fab up some wheels and a hitch to mount the motor and clutch to for the trip into the shop. If summer ever comes, that is. about 6" of new snow yesterday, and we are in a bit of a flood.
