If you cook carp the right way they are good tasting. First you get a wood shingle and put the carp on it and then you put it in the oven and bake it. When it,s done you take it out of the oven and throw the carp away and eat the shingle. Fishin has been so bad around here this year that even the liars aren,t catchin any---- boy that,s bad. (Believe that one and I,ll tell you another one).

Local catfish guys put some kind of carp in their ponds to keep down algae and weeds. They are supposed to be sterile so they buy new small ones after seining out the catfish and "grown" carp. Supposedly the carp don't eat fish food while they are small, but begin to eat lots as they get big, so the carp go onto the bank and the catfish go into the tanks.

Always some that get missed, both catfish and carp. They both grow to be enormous. The carp are a beautiful shiny fish, and at one time they were being collected/bought by buyers for sale in cities with big oriental populations. Not sure how they cooked them.

I haven't seen a pond harvested in a while, but haven't heard much about carp lately.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

CC, the only place I,ve really heard where the carp are caught is in the river near here but I don,t fish so that,s all about them I,ve heard.I,ve also heard some people eat them but don,t know of any off hand. There used to be lots of eels in this river here but were down stream a few miles from here that used to catch them and sell them. The river here locally is poluted so bad and in bad shape so don,t even know how fish survive in it.

Glen, I have a good spot for you to park when you decide to leave that California air and try some ice fishing.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
