I have a 1925 2 ton and all I need to finish it is an original carburetor for it. I know (well, 90% sure) it came factory with a Zenith. I also think it's brass so I'm sure if I find one it's gonna be spendy. Does anyone know who I can contact to try and find one?

What is your tractor S/N? 2 Ton Tractors from S/N 70001 to 70438 used a Kingston carburetor .. tractor S/No's from 700439-up used a Zenith carburetor.

Yes. The last known 2 Ton S/N is supposed to be 78989, altough I have buddy whose 2 Ton S/N is higher. Your tractor does indeed take a Zenith carburetor, and the model is T5T.
Do you have a parts catalog for the tractor? I can supply you with a professional reproduction of the original "comparative" Cat parts catalog that details and shows all the changes in design, and parts used, between the various S/No's. Email me if you're interested. The copy is fitted with cover protectors, and is ring bound with plastic comb binding, so it lays flat, and it will cost you US$35 post-paid. It's a nice handy book to have, 91 pages, with great drawings, and a numerical parts list included as well. Regards - Ron Nash.

Ron, My name is Ian Galliers from the UK and I am restoring a 1918 White 2 Ton Truck that has a T5T brass carb fitted. Does the book you refer to have any diagrams of the carb in it or do you know to any publications that would. Thank you in anticipation. Ian

Hi Ian,
welcome to the BB. Love old trucks too. Dad and I restored a 1929 Thornycroft XB tandem drive that we carted our 2 Ton to/from Rallies on.
I have this scan to offer from the 2 Ton Service Manual.
Have 2 Ton Parts Book but Part Numbers are Holt/Caterpillar and so not much use today.
In due course I will scan and post the carb. operation and adjustments from the manual.
On this BB double left clicking on the scan will enlarge it for easier viewing--I also recommend to down load and save these scans for future use.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

EDIT,

added scans cover Operation and Adjustment. Last two scans show float fuel levels for various Zenith Carbies--the T5T dimension (45/64") is in the second paragraph of dimensions--second page of dimensions tells how to adjust the fuel level for the collared float level type needles.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Hi Ian,
that is a really smick looking Kingston, I guess an L2--with extension, and the early green as seen on some 25000 S/No T35's.

Data for the T Ford version Kingston carb. can be used to set one of those up--what I used when I did my early 70000 Holt 2Ton.

S/Nos 25001--up Holt T35 (2Ton) had the Kingston L2 1 1/4" carb. with extension.

S/Nos 70001--70438 had the Kingston L3 1 1/4" carb. and S/No's 70439--up had the Zenith T5T.

Cheers,
Eddie B.
