I torqued the head bolts to 180 as specified earlier. It is a 3/4 fine thread bolt. I noticed that some of the gasket between the top valve body and the head squezed out. Has anyone seen this. I used some thin gasket material from an auto parts. My main concern is if it is putting to much pressure out on the ears of the valve body. Maybe that is normal. Any ideas welcome. '
Your right you can break the ears off the rocker box have seen this before 😞 when over tightened or mating surfaces are not square. The same thing will happen to the manifolds if the heads are not square to each other. I use a large t-square to check that all the intake and exhaust ports are in alignment before tightening. as each head is individual there is enough movement for miss-alignment. you can try a plan paper gasket that is 1/64 thick to help minimize deflection. Also less torque will ease the gasket deflection.😊
