The day after Chistmas I decided I had better go clean the drivway leading up to the house. The wind coupled with the snow had left about 2 to 3 feet of snow just depending on where you stood.
I have a new B7800 kubota with a backhoe attachment that normally will do a good job moving snow, even without chains.
I started the kubota, let it warm up,then proceded to move snow. as I was struggling to get through these drifts I though to myself,at this rate i'll be here all day. Don't get me wrong.I love the snow and to see a drifted in driveway is nothing but fun to a point. After the first hour or so it suddenly becomes workkkkkk.
Anyway,I thought of starting one of my little d2's to clean the bulk of it,but thought there would be know way I would be able to start one .The temp was at -3. The more I thought about it I decided to give it a try.
Went over, hit the pony starter away it went, let the pony run for maybe 30 seconds and started the diesel. I could'nt believe it started!!!.
At times like these i'm so glad I have a SOMETIMES PESKY PONY instead of direct start.I'm sure there are guy's that love there direct start ,but here in Park City,Ut i'm not so sure it would be a good choice????.
Anyway,The difference in the push between my kubota and my d2 is huge.
The problem I have is not the push,it's the blade. Is there anyone out there that has made some wings of some sort that you could bolt on a tool bar dozer for moving snow?It would sure make things go alittle quicker.
Here are a few picture's of the snow day we had in Utah.

Great pictures, I like the ones with the nose pointing towards the sky.
I know there are some that would disagree with me but I think pony motors are the best thing since sliced bread, espescially in cold temps. I make it a point to keep the carbs clean and the mags hot, never have any problems.

I had a D2 that the previous owner had adapted a blade off a highway plow to. It was angled so the snow fell off the right hand side but if there was more than a foot of the wet stuff, the little 2 wouldn't push it as the blade measured around 10' wide. Powder was no problem. .

compressor,
I think a V snowplow would work a lot better. You could make a pass down the middle and then come back and use just half of the blade to widen it out and just keep making and as many passes as you need. There is 2 sitting here in a junk yard. catskinner
