Think I burned up the master switch trying to start the old girl last saturday.
Can anybody identify the part number. It's on the dash and disconnects the batteries. 24 volt direct start.
Thanks in advance

The first type 1H4904 switch was the T-handle twist type knob with square body....no longer available.
It was replaced by a universal key type 7H7290....very common...but requires the 8H5314 adapter plate to get from the two bolt mount to the 3/4 in. diameter hole used by the replacement unit (or make your own)

The Cat dealers new parts lady couldn't find the number--she said only the old guys could find this --looks like she was right!
Thanks Old Magnet.
Can I just bypass this -- haven't really had time to troubleshoot it yet. We've had over three and a half feet of snow here in Spokane Wa. in the last 8 days--gonna need to get it running!

Yes, you can jump it.....so long as it is not shorted to ground.

Cole Hersee Co. and PollaK make after market versions also.

If you have the original style two lever glow-start switch your problem may be there. Most of them crapped out a long time ago.

Old Magnet,
You're right on with the two levers-one for the glow coils [which were removed b/4 I got this Cat] and the other pulls in the starter solenoid. I wouldn't think there would be much current on that one though.
It's still snowing so saturday I have to get the D6 going. I'll touch base after I get it going. :)
Mery Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Put 2-3 inches of charcoal briquets in a bucket -lit and let them go to coals and stuck the bucket under the oil pan sump. Aimed a propane radiant heater at the intake manifold then spent an hour clearing the snow[ 3+ ft.] off the D6.
Jumpered the master switch and she lit right off. Spent the next 6 hours pushing out the berms on the road [1/2 mile]and parking areas at my house and my brothers.
Every kids dream-tubo-powered snow remover w/ a 12 ft. blade!
Will order and pick up a new switch today hopefully - it's supposed to snow all week here again.
Has any body got a way to pipe a heater into the block on a D6-9U27222?
Thanks.

No real handy way to connect (a tank type) heater). Problem is getting circulation circuits through both the block and radiator....across the thermostat.
There is a lower connection that will handle both if you can remove the plug in the lower radiator pipe casting......and an easy upper connection at the two bolt cover on the side of the thermostat housing (but it is below the thermostats).
To complete the radiator circuit you will need to tap in to the upper hose.....then use a Y connection to feed both the thermostat housing and radiator.
