I can't wait to test out my new snow machine either.
GWH,
Did you get your PTO? The guy that shipped it off for me said he didn't like the way I had it strapped to a pallat. He said he had a box he could put it in.
I've been watching the weather in Northern Idaho. Wow, you guys are getting hammered with cold weather! It's been colder in Pocatello and IF then it has been in Soda Springs where I live. That's rare!

Hi Ken, yes I received it. The box was pretty fancy wasn't it? You had asked on another thread and I answered about a week ago. Very, very cold here, the worst I have experienced since I moved out here. It has moderated to some extent now, but several days ago it was 20 below in the morning - that was Monday I think. GWH

Ken,
Get ready for another blast. .I've been watching a Portland station on the tube this morning and the weather pimps are practically beside themselves. What's the big deal:confused: After all, it IS winter
It's been a bit nippy here but not a lot of snow yet, maybe a foot on the ground so far.
What sort of critter is that snow machine? I don't think I've seen one that uses tires for rollers. .

ol'_Grump: Its a 1963 Snow Shou, built in Logan, Utah. Serial #7. The reason why I bought it. Is because there is no specialty parts. Its completely built out of automovtive parts, theres nothing on there that I couldn't buy from Nampa. It has a Ford engine, transmission, transfer case, and a Dana differenial. It steers by the individual brakes in the Dana rear-end. I imagine it will probably be hard on wheel cylnders and brake shoes, but at least I know where it buy them
. Its got two heaters in it. It will seat 6 adults comfortably. Just bought it this fall. So I am kind of looking forward to the snow as well.

Hi all
Looking for a draw bar for a RD6, also a oil pressure gauge.
On an other note the sales brochure of a D2 with a four bottom plow. My father bough a new D2 with a four bottom 16'' trip hitch plow in 1950. I plowed many acres with it, some in first gear with the plow chained to tractor.
80 acres in first gear to plow under mammoth red clover for corn in Bridgewater, New York.

It snows here about every 10 years. Usually by lunch time it is fifty degrees and it all melts away. It cripples the area just threatening to snow. Last time in the nintys some fool around the corner busted out a snow mobile with one inch of snow. Not going to happen today with a high of 79!

Hot and muggy here in Alabama too.
It'll make the grass grow though! We had a dry fall and didn't get much growth or even sprout most of the seed we had planted until late November.
I always enjoy seeing pictures of you guys' snow!
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

I used to live in Cattaraugus County (town of Allegany) where we had some very heavy snow storms. My old neighbor out there sends me updates with photo's. I saw photo's of the snow you guys are talking about.
Pennzoil had the Mineral rights in the valley where I grew up and quite a few times they contracted Charlie Gardini to plow the road with his D6 to open it up so their guys could get to the CAT barn and start plowing the Lease roads.
I wouldn't necessarily want to live where Ron does as he is on the hill and everything below him would need to be plowed for him to get out. But the nice thing about where he does live is that it is fresh and clean (pretty) looking!
We had snow here in Elkhorn Thursday night into Friday morning. They are forcasting more for Saturday. Lots of neighbors calling asking for plow outs as its more than they can handle!
