The oil cooler on my D2 5U is leaking in the fin area. Here are my questions.
1. Can I plug the lines from the oil filter housing and not damage anything?
2. Can I tie into the oil filter housing with a loop of hose so that the oil flows
without going into the oil cooler?
3. Any suggestions as to who could fix the oil cooler?
Thanks

No you can,t just plug off the lines. Either make the loop or some on here plug the filter at the lines going to the cooler but the plug in the bottom of the filter base has to be removed and the spring and plunger removed to work right if you go this route.I think I,d make the loop and shouldn,t be a big job and leave the plunger in as was.

Cat apparently made plugs for closing off the cooler ports (I have a pair in an engine), but they might be hard to find and they arn't just a pipe plug. They are a straight pipe thread with a 45 degree taper on the nose to connect just like the tubes. It's probably easier to make the loop than to make these plugs.
Most people seem to agree that the oil cooler was a massive overkill on the D2 lube system.
