So today, by myself I thought I would have a challanging day at the shop reinstalling a set of tracks for a PV 15. The machine had been sitting for four years, and the tracks had gotten stiff, so i had all the pins and bushing turned at the track shop. About a month ago I purchased a track tool from colemans milatary surplus. It was only $35.00 plus shipping!!!! Today was the first day I used it and it worked perfect! I had both sets of tracks on in less than an hour. Ironically, after I drove in the master pin, I realized the tracks were too tight, so I had to actually loosen the tracks, after installing the master pin- that never happens. The tools is a very simple screw vise. The link to the tool is http://store.colemans.com/cart/track-jack-16-in-opening-p-2056.html

I will try to attach pictures of the tool in action. I am sure this will work on the smaller cats- 10, 15, 22, 20 d-2, however the larger machines may have to much distance between the links as the opening is only 16 inches.

I never had such a great reconnecting track experceince!!!!

We had those in the tool box on the M48 tanks.

I fell heir to one later, but it had been used on a D7 and pretty well sprung beyond use, wound up in the scrap. They work pretty good but don't get rediculous about the power you put on it, lest it join mine in the junk!

I used to sell government surplus and those track tools were very common to come by. I used one on my D8 14A and it worked well. I never abused it and it is still working well for my D4 7U. I would not be without one.

I don't know I used one many times on my M1 tank that they were designed for. Not a lot of fund breaking track but the Track Jack is indespensable when doing it.

We have a tool sort of like that, but a little smaller for pulling potato chain and belted chain together.

Nah, I didn't use it on D7 tracks. It came with a D7 and the last owner had already sprung it. I sure did want to try it but it was just too shot to work.

How do you drive in the master pin at the 'top' of the track? Or do you put in a dummy pin then remove the tool to get it below the front idler?
