I need to replace the cutting edge on my D4C 40A with Balderson BD4U U-blade and I don't know what it uses. The internet has virtually no information on them so I figured I'd as around here.

Can you reverse the blade for added use? In my area there are several places one can get replacement cutting edges, slobber bits, hardware etc. for any blade. ACME Rigging and Supply keeps charts on hand with specifications; for the odd ones, a salesperson can drive out and measure for me. Pretty basic; center piece, 2 end bits, thickness and height, bolt hole spacing and size of bolts. Some Balderson blades were knock offs of a CAT I believe, such as the toolbar style blade.
Share your location, that would help. Closer is better if freight is a concern. JM

I am in central NY and there is a steel salesman that deals in any cutting edges and such but my problem with finding size and type comes from the fact that the fellow that owned the machine before me removed the cutting edges and never replaced them.

Hi, IHtd9.
If a cutting edge/ground engagement tools supplier is any good, they should be able to track down the appropriate cutting edges for a given dozer blade.

Failing that, try Balderson/Dymax Inc. themselves.

Your cutting edge, if a normal and genuine U-blade, will have a 3 piece cutting edge plus corner bits.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Found this on the net, it's for a 60" gauge D4, should be the same as D4C. Hope it is of some help.Yes, this is a straight blade so not much use if yours is a U blade.
