Take the side cover off the injection pump and check to see if lifters are moving.
Took the cover off and lifters are moving.
Whens the last time you changed fuel filters and cleaned out any sludge in the filter housing? You may be making pressure but not flow.
Check your fuel rack to make sure it’s moving, I’ve seen some stick and act the way you are describing your faults. Also pressurize your fuel tank a little psi to get things moving faster doesn’t hurt.
Thanks guys! I got my bleeders loosened up, cranked it over and got juice, closed them all and had juice at injector lines. Snugged them up, waited a minute or two, flipped the compression release off and away she went. Took her for a drive and shoved some dirt around and she seems pretty happy. They say they have injection pump filters at the cat dealer, and I should probably change them. 21 bucks a filter and 5 bucks a gasket. Not unreasonable. When I had the side plate with 6 bolts off it made me wonder if that is bathed in oil or not and if so from where. The Big plug with the slot in it came off easy and it seemed like there was fuel in there. Should it be fuel or do I need to look further, Also the plug with the 11/16 square extension I didn't open because I needed a breaker bar and didn't want to screw up the square drive so thought I'd soak it down and try later. What behind that plug? Anyway I'm way ahead of where I was.
There should be engine oil behind the big slotted plug on the injection pump. If it is fuel you have a problem. The square plug below the two bolt cover is the drain plug for the filter housing. You need to invest in a service manual and Operation manual plus actually do some maintenance.
OM is correct, The Operation and Maintenance Instructions(OMI) is full of useful information that will save you time and money. It may prevent you from making a mistake. There is a OMI in the ACMOC library or I have one for sale cheap, if you want it send me a private message.

Is the oil in the in the reservoir below the injection pump 30 weight. I've got to look closer at what's in there. It just seemed a little thin so I assumed it was diesel. Years ago I had a military field parts book. Great exploded drawings of every part nut and bolt. It explained things as well. Beautiful book and well worn, used. Like and idiot I let a guy have it that bought my first d7 from me. At the time I figured I'd get another one when the day came. Didn't know what I had until I tried finding another. Anything I've seen isn't quite the same but yes I do need and would like to have a good book or two so let me know what you've got Craig.
