I just got a old D7E serial number 47A11294 and have a few questions about the hydraulic system. From some internet research it looks like I have a #173 hydraulic system. The tank is mounted in a bulge in the nose of the machine. Does this system have a filter and if so any idea where and what the part number is? I'm a new member here, sorry for so many questions!

Hi Magneto, The D7E 47A is a great tractor. I need the S/N of your hydraulic control to be sure. The S/N tag is located on the left side of the tank I believe. I think this is what you asked for.

Thanks Craig, that really helps. Do you think that Tractor Supply premium hydraulic oil (ISO 46, 20W) is okay for this system? This is for a farm dozer that will not see many hours.

One last question how do I tell when the system is full? The system self-drained yesterday when a hose blew.

If you can use the ACMOC library under "document type" select "operator's instructions." Then under "accessories" select "hydraulic controls." On the left column scroll until you find the NO. 46 hydraulic control(it was later changed to NO. 173)

BTW Fill the hydraulic tank until the oil is visible in the screen. Start the tractor and cycle the blade up & down several times then shut the tractor down and check the oil level again. The oil level should be in the lower half of the screen when the oil is below operating temperature.

You're welcome Magnum, You need to access the ACMOC library(you have to be a paying member to see the contents.) The library contains all the manuals for the D7E 47A except for the one you need the most the OMI. I will scan & submit the OMI as soon as I find one. The library even has sales brochures. I think you would enjoy the 16 page brochure for the NEW D7E for 1963.
