I found an Adams Model 550 S/N 3538 & can probably pickup fairly cheap, just wondering if there are any parts available for this machine, & what it may be worth in non-running order.

The Adams graders were quite good graders.. but they sell cheap .. and I think you would be extremely lucky to find anything more than basic parts such as engine kits, seals and bearings, for it.

The Adams Company was purchased by LeTourneau-Westinghouse in 1955, and the Adams grader line became LeT-W graders .. then, much later, WABCO graders.
All these companies are long defunct. WABCO was absorbed by Komatsu .. and if ya wanna see guys rolling on the floor in laughter and giving you incredulous looks, you could always ask the Komatsu dealer parts guys, if they still supply Adams grader parts .. 😄
Komatsu can't supply parts for half the Komatsu range, after 15-20 years, let alone a 55-65 year old grader, from a company that disappeared over 50 years ago .. 😄

There is a dealer who deals in Letourneau Westinghouse Graders who might have some Adams parts. I don't know if he is still in buisness or not because it has been several years since dealt with him. Even forgot the dealers name .

I have a manitenance and repair manual and a parts manual for a 440H Letourneau Westinghouse Grader.

Hi, Catcrazy.
Adams graders were commonly powered with International Harvester diesel engines, UD14, UD18, etc., and the people over at Redpower will usually be able to help with most of your needs in that department.

and go to IH Construction Equipment.

You will need to register to be able to post freely but it's free.

As for the rest of the machine, Adams graders were pretty robust but you are talking about a 50 - 60 year old machine. There are almost certainly going to be some parts that are around or past their use-by date. How-wevver, they were also pretty simple machines. If you have a good friend who has a reasonable machine shop and knows how to use it, or if you have one yourself, that could be a big asset. It is also quite possible that the folks over at Redpower will be able to help in this regard too. In fact, it may be worth putting up a post over there about this machine and asking about the availability of parts before making any decision about buying it.

There is also a list of parts and service suppliers/providers for a lot of different machines and items posted here:

Hope this helps.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
