I agree, those near crimped injection lines need to be replaced but a check of the parts book shows they did not utilize clamps.
If you go changing lines, they all need to be of equal length if fabricated. Best to get Cat parts if available.

I will look at my D6 B to see how the injector lines are routed, yours make me wonder if turbo was added and the lines were bent to clear? I will try to grab a pic for you. Question about the tracks showing the idler out near the front of the track frame, don’t the longer D5 6.92 links start out a lot farther forward than the original 6.75 pitch links? I ask because I have a tractor with what I think are like new d5 chains on it and the idler sets way forward also. Thanks, Mike

Hi, Mschwartz.
You may well be right about the turbo being added on but I still can't see any good reason why the injector pipes would need to be bent the way they are, especially considering the pressures that they work under.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

So once these are converted to 6.91 pitch using a welded ring on the sprocket, and bolted on segments, I assume the track chain is also replaced as well to match? What about the upper and lower support rollers. And the big front roller wheel ( what’s the proper terminology)

I would like to replace those injector lines. I’ll go to Cat tomorrow and see if they are available and check pricing.

Hi, mopardude.
Replacing one without the other would be kinda a recipe for disaster.
Remember, if they can't find those injector pipes or the D6B listings, ask them to look in "Classic Caterpillar". You will need the engine serial # and any arrangement #s that might be on that tag.

Thanks for the pictures. Your tracks show very little wear other than the track pads. They are genuine Caterpillar.
The injector lines never had clamps/braces. This is the D6B parts book. I also looked up the lines in my parts book for the D6C 74A(turbocharged) (bottom pic) and the numbers are the same.
This page is the back cover for the OMI for the D6B.
Your S/N looks like 44A4305. You confirm that by looking for it here.

When doing the 6.91 change over there is on less link than the 6.75 arrangement so the overall track length is the same. eg: 40 to 39 links.

Looking at some more of the track pictures there does seem to be an odd link in there with the Cat part number but not the same cat logo/designation.

Thank you for those part numbers. They are all available from CAT. $768.81 for all of them. Could I go aftermarket?
