D6 8U starter motor rebuild

Hi all. At long last I'm finally getting back to working on the D6 I'm trying to rescue.  I need to get the starter motor rebuilt.  I'm based in Sydney (Australia).  Can anyone recommend someone in Sydney who can do that?

212 grader, 301.5CR excavator, 226B3 skid steer (and fingers crossed a D6 8U coming my way soon!)

Hi Langdon. I would look for a well established auto elec. They all should have the proper test bench to be able to test the amp draw while the starter is operating. The old brigade will be used to the old style starters. Most small modern starters go straight in the bin now days. Keep us posted on your progress we are all interested in how you are going with this machine.

Thank you both Trainzkid and Chris. I'll ask around, see what the options are.

I'll definitely give the group an update on progress. I'm going to have another go at it this week, see if I can get the timing issue with the magneto on the pony motor sorted. In other news I've recently bought an International 2250 Acco truck that (once it has a new motor and is back on the road) will let me haul home the D6 - and after so, so long the 212 grader.

TK - found someone who was happy to do the work, going to drop it off and let him have a crack. See what happens.
