Hi hdokes, I began to scan the 6A blade OMI this morning to submit it to the library. I had never read it because my D6B is equipped with a 6S(straight) blade. The original owner of the manual must have gotten this manual before the correct D6B one was available even though this one was printed in July of 1960. This manual will work for your D6B except for the lubrication section, it has only info for the D6 9U & 8U type hydraulics. I'm sorry about my mistake but the handwritten note on the cover led me astray.

Hi Craig,
I certainly appreciate the efforts. For clarity I have included a pic here of my D6B. The blade you see on it I assume from what we have been talking about is a 6S blade? This blade is 11 1/2 feet across.
.... after the initial post....
Well that was redundant. Same pic as my profile pic.

That's most definitely a 6A(angle) blade.
Converting it to having hydraulic tilt cylinder(s) would require you to have a two valve hydraulic system. If you could find a donor tractor it is possible.
It's simpler and cheaper to learn the operation methods that were used for many decades before the tilt cylinder was invented. Simply push up a little pile of material perpendicular to the slope you want to grade and use it to tilt the tractor & blade to the amount desired.

Hey Craig: Cool picture of your Mach 1. My family owned a 1972 purchased new, and it was handed down to several of us. Ours had a spoiler on the rear, and it was great on gas mileage. 351 Cleveland and an automatic, no AC. It was metallic green. Nice D6 too! JM

Another mystery solved! I took the time to read the OMI instead of just scanning it and finally saw the note on page 8 that I circled in red and attached below.
I have purchased a NO. 165 hydraulic control OMI and will scan it for the library when it arrives.

On the original topic of trying to find parts for your D6b, I rebuilt my D6b a few years ago. In addition to Cat and Cat Classic, two good sources for parts are Regal (
www.regalcorpusa.com) and Blumaq (
www.blumaq.com). Regal is a very well-known company that has good prices. When they did not have certain parts I needed, they suggested Blumaq. Blumaq is a Spanish company, but has offices in U.S. They apparently provide a lot of parts for old tractors in Spanish--speaking countries in South America. They had the parts that neither Cat nor Regal had. The parts I ordered from them came from Spain, but arrived very quickly and were reasonably priced.

Oh I am so envious. My number one favorite car is a '74 Pantera however these days that is a bit out of reach. My 2nd is a tie between the '69 Mach I fastback and the '71/'72 Mach I. I owned a '74 Mach I but after they bastardized it for economy purposes it was a total POS. I have been looking high and low in the mid west for a '71/'72 to purchase for restoration but man they are far and few between. Good show Craig!
Also... thank you craig for the link on the hydraulic manual. I took your lead and purchased one. Should just about make my documentation library complete for the D6B.
So I must be reading something into the blade design I shouldn't be. I have figured that a 'straight' blade was one that had no horizontal curve to it like mine.... am I to understand that the 'curve' is the vertical curve that denotes that reference?

Hi David,
How were the transport costs for items purchased overseas? I have this vision of an empty wallet just to ship the heavier items. Thank you for the references for both suppliers.
