Hey Guys
I have Chicago Pnuematic compressor with a large Cat engine and the local Cat dealer couldn't help me. It's a 4 cylinder with a pony motor with a serial number 2S43375SP. I would like to know year and model so that I can buy the books for it.
Thanks for the help.

The SNID book show starting with 2S1 it says it,s a D8800 engine and would be the same type engine used in a D7 tractor up into the 3T SN. What gets me there is listed starting at 2S 5501 & up as a Misc. engine so figure that out.In between them it shows three cable controls with the 2S SN.

Thanks for the quick responses they are very helpful. It does look like the one in the attached picture. Since the year is in question will any D8800 service book work? Any one interested in pics of the compressor?

Are you sure you don't have an extra digit in that serial number???....my literature shows the series only ran from 2S1-2S5000:confused:

OM you might be right I didn,t think of that. It may be the extra 3 in it.My book only goes to the 5000 number and then the cable control model starts with the 2S5001 but also lists the Misc. engines at 5001 too so who knows and this is a Cat SNID book from Cat.

You guys are good. I went back out and double checked the tag and the 4 is the extra number. The tag is pretty rough. Will this help with the year?
Thanks again for the help

My book only has start up years but it probably is around a 1950 as the new 34B - D339 came out in 1955 to replace it.
