Hello.

I'm piling asphalt chips as pictured.

What is the correct way to come back down the slope? Currently, I'm coming down in reverse in 1st and letting the tractor do its thing

Please & Thankyouverymuch.

When backing down a steep slope you should use the steering clutch opposite of the direction you want to travel. i.e. if you need to move to the RIGHT side of the tractor pull the LEFT steering clutch. This allows the left track to travel faster than the right track, making the machine travel to the right.

......thanks, but on machine pulling steering levers does not pre select gears for me.

Still no idea what gear I should be in, for ward or reverse, freewheeling or carried by the engine.

walking down the slope in low spd reverse is fine. it means you have some engine braking when moving you want the machine to be driving.
