New toy. Late D2

New toy. Late D2 was created by WyoCat
Hey guys. I went and picked up my latest toy yesterday. It has 1661 hours on it and it runs like a champ. The blade on it was a Balderson blade that actually came off a D4, but someone had cut it down to fit on the D2. Everthing is bolt on. Nothing is welded to the track frames or anything. Looks like they did a real nice job on the blade mods. I found it east of me just a couple of hours and with it still having the original dealer tags on it I am guessing that it has spent its whole life locally. Enjoy the pictures and have a good day.

Thanks SJ. You are right about keeping it nice! I plan on keeping her in its original work clothes. The first thing I have planned is to go through and change all of the fluids out and install new filters. Does anyone have any reccomendations on what filters to use? Next will be a track adjustment. I doubt that has ever been done.

About all you have is fuel filter kit and an oil filter so just go to your Cat dealer and get the ones you need. You probably should get a new seal that goes in the oil filter top cover and the fuel filter kit would have the required gaskets in it. Forgot to say that the hydraulic system possibly has a filter too so you may have to take it with you if it has one to get the correct one.

I wish some were/or could be found so close to my location. Now that I have my electrical pony start equipment overhauled and or new, I have the fuel system to go thru (which has the new filters installed) and prime the beast. Course while it's been sitting on the trailer for two years, now I see a good tranny leak. Grrgh....

Chad,
Just curious, whats the ser# looks as if the tracks have already been cut for snow.Having only 1600 hrs is sure hard to believe given it is over 50 years old .
I have it's brother,mine came in at 2138 hrs.
Anyway, lucky you what a great find.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. I was told that this pushed snow its whole life. That would explain the snow holes in the pads. That did not bother me at all as that is what it will be doing for me. We typically get one or two really big snow storms here. It will help me out during those times. Other than that it will just sit in my shop. Good news. I looked in the tool box under the seat and found all of the original tools. I used the original wrench to adjust the tracks tonight.

OM, yes the serial number is 5U14330. I am just now figuring out all of the goodies on it. How would I look at the machine to see if it has the oil clutch and bearing type main throwout?

OK, so here I have a question(s) for you guys. My parts book shows the Oil Filter Element as 9F6700. My local parts guy (sounded like he was in elementarty school) said that he had to go to the microfische to look it up. I was the one who gave him that number so I do not know what he was doing. Anyways, he says no go on that filter. Do any of you guys know a good number for an oil filter for this machine? AND SJ mentioned that there was a fuel filter kit that would come with everything that I need. The parts kid was able to get the element and all of the o rings and seals separatley. Now I am not a negative person, but why do I get the feeling that I am going to be returning these parts and reordering different ones!!! Do any of you have a good number for the Fuel Filter Kit? Thanks for all of your help on this.

If it has the oil clutch there should be a dipstick plunger assembly on the top of the bell housing facing left......also there is a large diameter bolt on cover on the bottom of the bell housing where the strainer lives.

I may be off on thinking they had the ball bearing greaseable throwout bearing. Thought they had them but can't find it in the parts book.

The current number for the 9F6400 filter is a Cat #1R0659 or use a Wix #51161 or Napa #1161

The fuel filter kit is 7B8262 and consists of three elements plus a 7B8037 and a 5B1581 gasket. I'm not sure the D2 uses the same element as the D4 (think so) which is a Wix #33164 or Napa #3164

Seems to be missing the factory installed dent in the fuel tank. LOL
