any one know what the max hp you can get out of a 343 t with out blowing it thanks ross

we use to get 525 hp on a madill 009. that was just about throwing the smoke screw in the pucker brush and having a heck of a big raidator on the ft of it. But with a yarder you just have to have the nuts to get the log flying and it was easy money till it hit the log deck.

The 1693 truck engine is the basic D343 & the spec book shows 325 HP for a T model & 425 HP for a turbocharged & aftercooled (TA). To get the best results it should be aftercooled. I rebuilt a truck engine for a guy one time & dyno tesed after rebuilding it as was the custom & the fuel setting was set up high on it & it put out 550 HP before I shut it down so don,t know if it would go any higher or not.Engine had 880,000 miles on it at this first time major overhaul. Really to get the best results if the fuel is set up on it is have an aftercooler on it for best results.
