After doing many hours of research on this form and deciding to make up my own plug removal tool and researching old cat wrenches I remember seeing this in the old man’s toolbox and wow it fits thanks to all.

Wow I like it since that’s coming from caterpillar that’s probably $50-$75. If it’s like any of the other machinery that’s green or red. What I don’t understand is with the belly pan or the skid plate whatever you wanna call it ,with them plugs up in there 4 to 6 inches how was the mechanic to get that wrench up there through that little hole and unscrew the drain plugs looks good on paper.

If you are planning to use that finger pinching, knuckle buster - a simple fix:

Saw the handle off and use a socket on the opposite side to remove/ replace the plugs.

If for some reason you don't want to cut this piece of shit off - this is one alternate: 1 1/8" hex head bolt cut off and crudely welded.

Or just put the wrench up through the pan then put a socket on it.

The "inverted hex" of the drainplugs are tapered, so to get a full contact non-marring tool get a Caterpillar tool. Yes, the "welded nut" tools will work. They just don't have the look and the cool factor.

An 18" cheater pipe makes the on and off easier with the Cat tool. Mash the end of the tube or pipe on the handle to control the orientation of the spud with the pipe.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
