I just looked at a 30, PS1201. Anybody know what year it is? The under carriage has about 30% left. Is the under carriage rebuildable? It is also missing the the fuel tank along with the seat, manifold heat lever broken, no compression release valves, along with many other non functional parts. The engine is loose, hooray! What is the availability of a tank or would one have to be custom made? I was told this model had a problem with condensation getting in the oil pan and cracking it when it gets cold. It appears the bottom of the oil pan has cracked off, it is currently fixed with JBWeld. I don't know too much about cats but what is the opinion of the group? Would this be something that I should consider or shy away from. what is the availability of parts on a cat 30?

Another thing, I was told that it is a common method of starting an old cat by towing it with another tractor. Is this true or do most folk with these older cat start them with the crank. I have an old JD D and it starts fine by turning the flywheel.

The book I have says it is a 1930.As for the crack in the oil pan that is normal ,you just take it off and braze it. There are lots of parts for a Thirty around the tracks are common to a lot of models 20 25 28 30 35 I think. The gas tank is being repoduced and so is the sheet metal. Most people start the tractors the way that is meant by the crank.
If you need parts let me know I may be able to help and we are not that far apart. Jeff Moyle

The club serial number book says PS501 through PS2367 were built in Peoria in 1927.
