waugh & josephson were one of the largest machinery dealers in australia during the late 1800's to the 1950s or so they had agencies for most brands. also a hell of a lot of badge engineer went on back then too. they sold everything from stationary engines to tractors to trucks and workshop machinery. so it doesnt surprise me that they where licence building cat equipment. and with australia being at the arse end of the world at the time when it came to shipping and graders being rather bulky even in kit form you can understand why.

cat still have the building that became cat of aust its thier main distribution centre for southern australia they also built a new one near brisbane to do the northern half a couple of yrs back.

Hi, trainzkid88.
That new facility in Brisbane is one of a chain of such facilities around the world - I think 3 or 4 in the U.S., 1 in Belgium, 1 in Singapore and, again, I think, 1 in Brazil. Last I heard, there were plans to build more of them - at $80 plus mill. Australian per facility.

55,500 m2 - 32.5 acres - of floor space at first building stacked 11 metres - about 36 feet - high with EVERY part catalogued down to number of in stock, location in the warehouse and even who last handled any of them. If they can get it on a plane, they can have it to almost and major center anywhere in the world in 24 hours.

"Komats-WHO"????????????????????????????? A LOTTTA their spares are overnight, 14 days from Tokyo. "You want it when?" as they fall all over the floor laughing.

You might get in touch with Chapter 5. They have 3 tanks in the museum. I dont know anything about Stuart Tanks but one of the Gilhotties (SP?) might.

deas, i know. dad used to cart stuff upto hastings in rockhampton. that run finished when they opened the new warehouse in brisbane. it was handy for getting parts at the time, dad bought them home in the cab with him he probably carted them up there 2 days before. yes service is one thing cat has excelled at. they might be be more expensive than other brands but you can get parts.
