To Someone who knows the D8K Dozer repairs.

I'm going to reseal the blade lift hydraulic cylinders on my 1979 D8K dozer. I cain't see any shims at all on either one. I suppose someone has previous removed them to slow down the leakage? How many shims are required for one cylinder? Parts manual  on SIS 2 states 12 each?  Shop manual States remove one at a time until no more dripping. I think you need some leakage for lubrication, say one drop every 25 cycles? It doesn't state anything in my shop manual? Thanks for a replying.

With the new Cat seal kits you don't need to put shims back in. You also have to order the packing separate.
