Hey guys, I need your help. I have removed the starting motor clutch pinion assembly from my D2 to replace the seal next to the inner roller bearing. I can't seem to find a way to remove the the gear and the latch assembly to do this. I don't know if the parts are rusted together or threaded or what the problem is. Can you please tell me how to get this thing apart so that I can get this seal replaced? I would appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks, John

Should not be that difficult:)
Remove the four bolts and locks from the sleeve assembly and slide it off. You may have to release the latch dogs if they are engaged. The stop that the latches grab unscrews from the main shaft. Unbend the lock tabs from the retainer nut and unscrew the nut......

Thanks for the information OM. I wasn't sure how it came apart. The sleeve was rusted solidly on the gear and I wasnt sure if it was a sliding fit or threaded or held on in some way I couldn't see. It was a real battle to get it apart, but I got there without busting anything. John
