Going to run some serial number and patent number tags for early tractors . The price will be in the $ 135 range for the patent tag and $65 for the serial number tag . I’m just passing it along , I know they are expensive .

we are planning on using stainless steel like the originals

They would be without the number in them but depending on what you want it shouldn’t be a big deal to stamp it with 1/4” steel stamps or have it etched on . So maybe just a few dollars more for etching . If this helps

I am a new guy here, and have a related question: The serial number tag for the engine block is missing on a D8 I am bringing back to life after a 25+ year rest in the bushes. It has a slide bar shift, so is anything from a 1H, an 8R, or an early 2U. Can anyone please tell me where I might find the frame location for the number? A Cat rep told me it would be front left under the floor plates. Can't see any joy there.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much for the quick reply! I am 550 miles from the machine and am having photos sent to me. It has a crankshaft driven winch for the blade, but might have one on he rear as well, I hope I do not have to peel that off to see the number.

Thank you again,

Jeff

Well don't forget the engine block has the numbers too. Behind the starter pinion lever. If the tag is gone it was stamped into the block behind the tag.

Well, an old fella like me learns something new every day! Thanks for the update. I'll take a brush and some Brakekleen after that area and see if I have any luck.

Thanks,

Jeff

Are these patent tags year specific? For example, I have a 1935 Diesel Forty and the patent tag at the rear of the tractor is chewed up. Would a tag on 1935 Diesel Forty be different from a 1938 D2?
