Does anyone know if the 5B5689 gasket is still a current part number. I am replacing my leaking oil cooler with a good non-leaking one and I want to use new gaskets for the upper and lower oil cooler connections. Thanks for any help. Joe Giraud.

I didn't have time to wait for the copper gasket years ago, slipped in a couple neoprene O-rings. The gaskets I ordered finally came and are still in my tool box. The O-rings are still in place going on something like 25 or 30 years. They never leaked even a little seep, stay totally dry.

Old copper washers can be annealed and reused by heating 'til they reach a dull orange glow and dumping into cold water, just backward from annealing steel. Do this in fairly dim light as it's easy to melt 'em by getting 'em too hot. Unless they're really hashed, they can be reused one more time.
