Hello, 600 serial number I think will be 1969 or ‘70. Engine should be a D333C, about 500 tractors before the 3306. Transmission will be a 6 speed version, geared for ag work. Is your engine turboed? Horsepower ranges from 120-200 around here, just depends on who has been working on it. We need pictures. aMike

Thanks Mike---- yes it is an ag machine non turbo i think stated as 105 hp maybe a typo should be 150? or would the turbo be required for 150 hp? was there internal differences in the turbo engines different from the non turbo? or did they just add a turbo and adjust the fuel?

By my rack setting charts the 98J1-1133 uses The D333C engine non-turbo @ 120 hp. Same for the later D5B 3306, again non-turbo.
Transmission 8S2154 is a six speed, close ratio sliding gear type, same as used in the later D5B.
The transmission speeds are:
Forward
First 2.5 mph, second 3.0, third 3.5, fourth 4.0, fifth 4.6, sixth 5.6
Reverse
First 3.2, second 3.8, third 4.6, fourth 5.3
Turbo engines will have oil cooling jets for piston cooling.

Thank You Magnet. so the D333C engine had two different blocks? one for non turbo and another for the turbo application? or could the piston cooling jets be added? was it common for a turbo to be added to these tractors configured like this?

Cooling jets can be added, same block. The Special Application units did not originally come with turbo. but I guess it was fairly common to hot rod these units by adding a turbo. Certainly were other turbo versions in either the D333C or 3306 engines.

I got there very easy with google but the very quick look the last steel track machines I saw was a 1960 test. So no D5. But I only just tried once, but showed gas Cats and early stuff to 1960, then Challengers.
